DESPISED ICON post in-studio video part 1

Montreal based deathcore pioneers, DESPISED ICON, will release their Nuclear Blast debut, Beast, on July 22. Today, the band has released the first of several in-studio videos chronicling the making of that album, here:

Beast was produced and engineered by former guitarist Yannick St-Amand (Beneath The Massacre, Neuraxis) and mixed/mastered by Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Opeth, Nevermore). Artwork was created by Alexandre Goulet.

Check out the music video for title-track, shot and directed by Jessy Fuchs (OBEY THE BRAVE, SIMPLE PLAN) here:

Beast track list as follows:
01. The Aftermath
02. Inner Demons
03. Drapeau Noir
04. Bad Vibes
05. Dedicated To Extinction
06. Grind Forever
07. Time Bomb
08. One Last Martini
09. Doomed
10. Beast

For many extreme music fans, it may be hard to remember a time before DESPISED ICON, given the massive influence they’ve subsequently had on the genre. But when the group formed back in 2002 and releasedConsumed by Your Poison the same year, there was little intersection between the sounds of classic death metal and the brute force of hardcore. But DESPISED ICON were among the first to fully embrace the signatures of the traditional death metal formula combined with a relentless embrace of breakdowns, part of an emerging new sound.

Now DESPISED ICON have returned with their upcoming album entitled, Beast. The genre-defining band is fully reawakened, poised to recapture the crown with the monstrous and merciless might of their potent expression. Featuring the men responsible for most of the band’s now classic death metal catalog, Beast is a vicious commentary on the state of the world and the state of music itself.

THE LOUNGE KITTENS REVEAL ALBUM ARTWORK AND ANNOUNCE 2016 TOUR

The internet’s favourite cover girls, The Lounge Kittens, have revealed the artwork for debut album ‘Sequins & C-Bombs’ to be released on 16 September 2016, but despite showing more skin than photographer Paul Harries bargained for, they’re keeping further details of what’s on the album completely under wraps.

“We can’t tell you what songs are on there yet” says Pink Kitten, Zan “but we can tell you that yes, it’s all covers and yes, there’s loads of new stuff and several curveballs we’re particularly excited about.”

After shooting the steamy cover photos (in a freezing cold studio) there was much deliberation as to just how sexy the album cover image should be “'We are girls. We are silly girls that make silly faces. We can occasionally look pretty. We give you 'pretty girl, silly face'.” Jen, the Red one, tells us. “The album cover is the first thing that people see, before you even hear the music; it represents what the album means and who the band or artist ARE. Paul took loads of beautiful shots of us but we decided out and out 'sexy' just doesn’t suit us. We want people to know that picking up that album is going to result in unprecedented levels of fun.”

“To be honest, we were more excited about getting the Parental Advisory label on there. That was the moment it felt like a PROPER album” Zan assures us“You can keep your glamour, we just want people to know it’s got swears.”

As they set off for a summer filled with festival appearances, as well as a stint at the Edinburgh Fringe performing their sarcastic, self-deprecating show ‘Everybody Hates The Lounge Kittens’ which sees them navigate through the minefield of cyberspace, the saucy songstresses are clearly ecstatic to be getting out and about for the rest of the year. “It feels like we’ve been stuck in the studio FORVER. It was totally worth it, but we can’t wait to get back out and make some people laugh” bounces Jen

Whether they’re touring the world’s biggest arenas with heavy metallers, poncing about at festivals or hanging out in the back room of their local pub,The Lounge Kittens’ only mission is to make you snort-laugh till you’re sick. Something they hope to do a lot more of when they hit the road in October.“It's been over a year since we were fully on tour and this is our biggest, most widespread headline tour yet” says Blue Kitten, Timia. “We all really took to life on the road; it's a state of being that we've REALLY missed - personally I can't wait to reignite all our lovely co-dependency issues that we develop from living in each other’s pockets. We'll all be communicating telepathically and talking exclusively in in-jokes by the end of it...we'll be even more intolerable than usual. Can't wait.”

'The Evil Divide' was recorded at AudioHammer studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof(Trivium, Deicide), who previously worked on 2010's 'Relentless Retribution' and 2013's 'The Dream Calls For Blood'. Mastering duties were handled by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York City.

Three decades into their celebrated career, Death Angel remain as hungry as ever. As a result, uncompromising urgency and unpredictability define the Bay Area thrash quintet’s eighth full-length album, 'The Evil Divide'. The group - Mark Osegueda (vocals), Rob Cavestany (lead guitar), Ted Aguilar (guitar), Will Carroll (drums), and Damien Sisson (bass) - satiate the appetite for buzzsaw speed riffs, double bass mayhem, and scorching vocals over the course of ten new anthems.

MORE ON 'THE EVIL DIVIDE':
'The Evil Divide' stands out as the culmination of thirty-plus years of music for Death Angel. Their career kicked off with legendary debut, 'The Ultra-Violence', in 1987. The classic 'Frolic Through The Park' began to cement their legacy and even earned the distinction of landing on Loudwire’s list of the 'Top Ten Thrash Albums NOT Released by The Big 4'. The group broke up following 1990’s 'Act III' only to reunite in 2004 on 'The Art of Dying' for the next generation.

Artwork for the album was created by renowned tattoo artist Bob Tyrrell. Guitarist Rob Cavestaney commented, "Both Mark and I had been tattooed by Bob, and when the subject of album artwork came up, we approached him to create the design. We wanted an image that would represent the idea of 'The Evil Divide'; something beautiful, yet simultaneously wicked, hence the death moth. Bob realised our vision with mere pencil and paper, and now we proudly present to you the cover artwork for our 8th studio album, 'The Evil Divide'."

SCORPION CHILD Discuss the new members of the band in second trailer

Texan classic rockers SCORPION CHILD are set to release forthcoming album Acid Roulette, on June 10, 2016 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. Today, marks the release of a second trailer installment, in which Chris Cowart and Aryn Black sit down to discuss the new members of the band and their role in shaping the sound of the forthcoming album.

Watch the trailer here: https://youtu.be/xL990Nzj0xE

Guitarist Chris comments,
“I think this is the band Aryn and I have always envisioned. Having AJ on the keys was a real big thing on this record that we were really pushing for. With him...it’s almost like having another guitar player on stage, but he fills out these other layers of sound that another guitar necessarily can't do. With that though he can also emulate guitar parts"

The band recently released new track "Moon Tension" which can be heard here:

Acid Roulette was recorded at The Bubble in Austin, TX with Chris "Frenchie" Smith (The Answer, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead...) who produced and arranged the band’s self-titled, first full-length. Acid Roulette was mixed by Dave Schiffman (The Mars Volta, Dead Meadow, Jane's Addiction, Rage Against The Machine). The album's artwork, pictured above, was a collaboration by Aryn Jonathan Black, photographer Max Taylor and graphic designer Rob Kimura.

"Acid Roulette chronicles the life trials of a traveling man who was imprisoned for a murderous crime," comments Aryn. "He was forced into confessing by his wife and her wealthy lover so that they could live out their romance without him in the picture. Once sentenced to a life's term, he goes through extreme emotions dealing with the only woman he'd ever loved taking everything he'd known as "real" away from him. He has to create and redefine his own reality accompanied by its roller coaster of emotional reflection. He experiences many different psychological changes throughout the years and escapes by means of drugs and his writings. These songs become his diary of a madman. The focus is mainly on the seasons in a year, for each song represents a month. The songs exist to drive home the full power of human emotion as many albums do, however, Acid Roulette wires us into those extremes."

Track list as follows:

1. She Sings, I Kill
2. Reaper’s Danse
3. My Woman In Black
4. Acid Roulette
5. Winter Side Of Deranged

Guitarist, composer and lyricist René Berthiaume spent almost two years working on the new opus, 'Armageddon'. The result is rather dark, yet retains the bombast and folk elements of the previous records.

This time, the album was recorded, mixed and produced by René himself and was mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Los Angeles). The cover artwork was again created by Skadi Rosehurst.

René states: "Once more, Skadi created a wonderful piece of art, which captures the more darker atmosphere of »Armageddon« perfectly. As on the album, you can discover a lot of details in the artwork as well. Skadi's style - traditionally drawn motifs become one overall picture digitally - fits marvellously to our music. Again and again, it's an exciting feeling if the music becomes even more concrete and livelier by the artwork."

More details coming soon!

Metal Hammer cover stars Gojira and Swedish melodeath giants Amon Amarth complete the live lineup of this year’s Metal Hammer Golden God Awards in association with Fireball. The full live lineup, which also includes Halestorm and A Salute To Lemmy with Saxon and Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell of Motörhead, are the only UK shows for any of the bands outside of festival appearances – and tickets cost just £6.66!

The evening's host, and holding the whole show together, is Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta. Currently on tour in America, Jasta is one of the most charismatic and engaging frontmen in the business, and is the perfect person to keep the Golden Gods’ moshpit in check! Hatebreed released their seventh album, ‘The Concrete Confessional’, on May 13 this year. Metal Hammer awarded it 8 out of 10, calling it “Unapologetic, relentlessly angry, and without a filler track to be found… exhilarating to the very last syllable.”

Taking place at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, London on June 13, headlining the ceremony will be A Salute To Lemmy - a celebration of the life of one of rock's most inspirational icons that will see Saxon joined onstage by Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell of Motörhead to play a set of classic songs from both bands. Also confirmed are Grammy Award-winners Halestorm, whose sure-to-be-incredible performance will be one of only two in the UK this year.

Gojira are one of the most exciting and innovative bands in metal. Set to release their much-anticipated sixth album, ‘Magma’, on June 17 – a follow-up to 2012’s critically acclaimed ‘L'Enfant Sauvage’ – they have always pushed the boundaries and challenged their listeners with genre-defying music. The band's sound develops with each album and their live shows are among the most captivating in the world. They start a world tour at the end of May that will take them through Europe, the US and Canada.

Amon Amarth released their 10th album, ‘Jomsviking’, in March of this year to resounding acclaim. Their first concept album, it allows the band to demonstrate the full dynamic force of their music, and shows why they are one of the world’s leading heavy metal bands. A live powerhouse, they are currently touring the US, and will be going on to conquer Europe in June and July. Live, Amon Amarth are like nothing else; their intensity is immense and unwavering, delivered with a power like no others.

Alexander Milas, Editor-in-Chief of Metal Hammer Magazine and TeamRock Executive Director, says
"This isn't a bill for the faint-of-heart. From the goblet-hoisting, festival-headlining might of Amon Amarth to the peerless innovative brilliance of our latest cover stars Gojira, this is going to be a fire breathing monster of a party. Nothing but the best for the people who've supported Metal Hammer in all its forms for all these years. Horns up!"
