The Metal Hobbit reviews `In Flames' `Siren Charms'

Evolution, adapting, are two key things that the human race has managed to get right for a while now and it’s not only in our ability to adapt to a new environment but also in our ability to change and evolve in some of the more fun aspects of our lives but music is one particular area that isn’t often met with the same positive reaction.

In Flames, are a band that fits in to that mould, ever evolving, and adding to their already impressive array of albums is `Siren Charms’, an album which may bare very little resemblance to early material yet at the core the members haven’t changed.

Yes, traditional Jesterheads may not be too pleased when they pick up `Siren Charms’ but it’s still In Flames, it’s still got that core sound and heaviness that is simply unique, but `Siren Charms’ is perhaps want for the better word more accessible than anything previous, even those non-metal heads might enjoy it.

Big hooks, big choruses and big melodies are key aspects of this album, from `Everything’s Gone’ through to `With Eyes Wide Open’ you are met with an In Flames album with added dare I say pop sensibilities but that’s not a bad thing, it means that you can sing along when Anders and Co. come to your town.

In Flames do something that is often negatively met with by music fans and as mentioned that’s evolve, they create albums that they want to at that particular moment in time, and to hell with the consequences and `Siren Charms’ takes that to the next step, with more electronics as well as some absolutely tasty guitar licks from Bjorn and Nic who has a now joined the legendary Swedish outfit. This is `In Flames’ for 2014.

Not one for every In Flames fan, but it comes with any surprise that this would happen, especially with the recent melodification of In Flames albums.

Still this is a fun album, and one that you will no doubt love hearing live, In Flames evolving once more.

ANTHRAX Release ‘Chile On Hell’ DVD + 2CD on October 20th

Get ready to mosh in the privacy of your own home, because multiple Grammy-nominated thrash masters ANTHRAX have announced the release of "Chile On Hell", a live-in-concert DVD that is due on October 20th. ‘Chile On Hell’ was filmed at the Teatro Caupolican in Santiago, Chile on May 10, 2013 and features ANTHRAX performing an extended set that featured songs from the band's entire catalogue.

‘Chile On Hell’ will be available on DVD and Blu-ray and 2 live CDs and was recorded in 5.1 surround sound.

"Santiago was the perfect place to film the show for this,"said ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante. "When we'd played there in the past, we'd finish our set, play our encore and go back to the dressing room. But every time, the fans would continue to scream and cheer and clap. I mean, they went on and on, they wouldn't stop. One time Scott [Ian, guitar] and I walked out to the side of the stage just to watch what was going on in the audience, it was intense. Why wouldn't we want to film a DVD in front of an audience like that?

"Plus," Benante continued, "the time was right to do this DVD… We wanted to finish on a high note. We didn't want to look back and regret that we didn't record the live show."

‘Chile On Hell’ was produced by Jay Ruston and filmed by City Drive Entertainment Group and DC3 Global. The DVD's cover art was designed by Stephen Thompson, who partnered with Benante to "redesign" the artwork from last year's ‘Anthems’ EP.

The band's setlist was as follows:01. Among The Living
02. Caught In A Mosh
03. I Am The Law
04. Efilnikufesin (N.F.L.)
05. A Skeleton In The Closet
06. March Of The S.O.D. (STORMTROOPERS OF DEATH cover)
07. In The End
08. Deathrider
09. T.N.T. (AC/DC cover)
10. I'm Alive
11. Indians
12. Medusa
13. In My World
14. Got The Time (Joe Jackson cover)
15. Fight 'Em 'Til You Can't
Encore:
16. I'm The Man / Raining Blood (SLAYER cover)
17. Madhouse
18. Antisocial (TRUST cover)

Trioscapes 'Digital Dream Sequence' lands on Billboard jazz charts

Progressive/fusion trio, Trioscapes, have released their sophomore album worldwide on Metal Blade Records! After the album's first week of release, it has landed on the Billboard Current Traditional Jazz albums chart at #4, #12 on the Top Current Jazz albums chart, plus #49 on the Heatseakers chart and #190 on the Independent albums chart! The album continues to resonate with fans of progressive and challenging music.

Trioscapes partnered with PROG Magazine in the UK earlier this month to premiere their video for the title track from "Digital Dream Sequence." The Chuck Johnson-directed performance video is streaming now at http://prog.teamrock.com.

Dan Briggs comments on the video: "We shot this video on the last day of our two week recording session at Legitimate Business in Greensboro, NC and I feel like it perfectly captures the raw intensity we were trying to capture. No bullshit, live in the studio."

Additionally, a new video featuring Matt Lynch performing the title track is up on youtube HERE.

To capture the raw and dynamic mood the band has become accustomed to at their live shows,Trioscapes enlisted the expertise of Kris Hilbert at Legitimate Business in Greensboro, NC to record "Digital Dream Sequence." Those studio facilities offered the band the flexibility to track individually, or as an entire band, which was done for certain parts on the album. In a brand new studio video, Dan Briggs (bass, Between the Buried and Me), Walter Fancourt (tenor saxophone/flute), and Matt Lynch (drums/percussion) take us behind the scenes and show us a glimpse of what the writing and recording process was like - watch the video now atmetalblade.com/trioscapes. While there, fans can also listen to "Stab Wounds" and order a copy of the album!

Trioscapes have evolved since their debut, and "Digital Dream Sequence" can be accurately described as much more deliberate. Walter Fancourt explained that "after hearing the debut album that was the first time I felt like I knew what we sounded like." Briggs added, "for the first record, the three of us came together just to write music for that album, not even really knowing we were writing for an album." Writing for "Digital Dream Sequence" drew on the experiences from the previous two years, both from touring and from having the time to just jam out songs together in a rehearsal space. Briggs continued, "After two years of touring, playing together, and casually working on new music, we really gelled and established more of a sound." That time together as a band has fortified the already formidable lineup into a much more self-aware and in-tune machine.

The completed songs were sent to Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, Scale the Summit, Devin Townsend) for mixing and mastering. The final touch provided by the longtime Between the Buried and Me producer added a polish to the sound without sacrificing the raw and aggressive sound achieved in the studio. "Digital Dream Sequence" stands to be one of the most accomplished and inspired releases, regardless of genre, in 2014.

Trioscapes started in the summer of 2011 when bassist Dan Briggs (Between the Buried and Me) contacted Fancourt and Lynch about working up a rendition of the Mahavishnu Orchestra classic "Celestial Terrestrial Commuters". The group also messed around with a few original ideas with the intent of playing a one-off live show. However, after rehearsing the material and playing the show, the group decided the music was so demanding and fun to perform that there should be more of a future for the project. A few more songs were written near the end of the summer and a full length album was recorded the first week of October with Jamie King in Winston-Salem, NC.Trioscapes combines elements of 70s fusion with progressive rock, dark syncopated grooves, a flare for the psychedelic, and an unabashed love for both quirky Zappa-ish melodies and thunderous abrasive trade-off lines.

Ensiferum to begin recording sixth studio album next month!

Ensiferum have completed writing for their upcoming new album and Metal Blade Records debut! With pre-production out of the way, the band is prepared to begin recording. Work will begin on September 8th at Astia Studio (astiastudio.fi) in Lappeenranta in Finland with producer Anssi Kippo. Fans can expect to hear new music at the beginning of January 2015.

Bassist Sami Hinkka offers the following update:
"Hi folks!

"Only a couple more weeks to go! We head to Astia Studio on 8th of September and recordings will take around five weeks.

"We had really good and creative pre production sessions with Anssi Kippo so now we are very well prepared to give 110% on each take in the studio. Because the songs were almost ready when we made the demo versions of them, Mr. Mikko Mustonen is already arranging orchestrations on top of those. Gotta love technology!

"There are still few minor details to arrange and couple of lines of lyrics to twist and turn but nothing can stop us anymore! We are convinced that this will be ground breaking album for us and the whole genre. (Modesty? What's that?)"

The album is tentatively scheduled for release worldwide on Metal Blade Records in early 2015.

ANAAL NATHRAKH to Release Desideratum This October Via Metal Blade Records

New Track Streaming + Preorders Available
Birmingham extreme metal miscreants and recent Metal Blade signees, ANAAL NATHRAKH, are pleased to infect the masses with their anticipated new full-length this Fall. Titled Desideratum, the follow-up to 2012’s critically-lauded Vanitas full-length was again produced by guitarist/bassist/programmer Mick Kenney, with vocals recorded at Necrodeath Studios in Birmingham, while the music was tracked and mixed at The Black Flamingo in Orange County, California. The final product boasts ten emotionally traumatizing hymns of unrepentant, audio deviance embodying the crux of pure evil.

ANAAL NATHRAKH -- Kenney alongside vocalist David Hunt AKA V.I.T.R.I.O.L. -- exists for one purpose: to be the soundtrack to the apocalypse; the audial essence of evil, hatred and violence, the true spirit of necro taken to its musical extremes. Since forming in 1999, the devious duo has gained a reputation for embodying precisely these things. With both screaming banshee and traditional vocals set against a backdrop of controlled chaos, what ANAAL NATHRAKH manifests is plainly frightening. Their winding history includes not only the release of seven albums and an EP to rapturous acclaim, but collaborations with such iconic figures as Attila Csihar (Mayhem), Shane Embury and Danny Herrera (Napalm Death), Nick Barker (Testament, Dimmu Borgir), Joe Horvath (Circle Of Dead Children), Sethlans Teitan (Watain) and moren. This, alongside appearing on BBC Radio 1 at the personal behest of sadly missed legend John Peel, headlining a stage at the renowned cult Inferno Festival in Norway as their debut international live appearance, countless rankings among "best album of the year" polls and "album of the month" in the press and cover appearances on leading magazines such as Terrorizer, ANAAL NATHRAKH's status as one of the leading lights in extreme metal is undeniable. Uniquely hallmarked by breathtaking musical ferocity, inventiveness and breadth, married with mercurial, intensely misanthropic and sharp intelligence, ANAAL NATHRAKH's sound is imbued with a palpable sense of menace that is virtually unmatched in metal. This year ANAAL NATHRAKH are set to reach ever higher on their mission to send the Earth crashing into the Sun.

Desideratum Track Listing:01. Acheronta Movebimu
02. Monstrum In Animo
03. The One Thing Needful
04. A Firm Foundation Of Unyielding Despair

06. Idol
07. Sub Specie Aeterni (Of Maggots, And Humanity)
08. The Joystream
09. Rage And Red

Further ANAAL NATHRAKH news and teasers to be dispersed in the coming weeks. You have been warned.

"…these dudes split 'terrifyingly heavy and fierce' and 'giant dork' straight down the middle and sew it up again like Dr. Frankenstein working on the monster." - Decibel

Metal Down Under DVD review by The Metal Hobbit

So Australia, in pop culture we all know Kylie Minoque, Neighbours and frankly the multitude of animals that could kill you, and musically apart from the pop music we know AC/DC and Airbourne but their brand of Metal hasn’t really infiltrated our ears.

Metal Down Under may change all that, built in the style of the now famous Sam Dunn `Headbangers Journey’, this documentary pretty much details the rise of Hard Rock and Metal in Australia. Coming from a saturated music environment, Europeans and Americans in terms of Metal we believe we have the cream of it and we often forget about other areas of the world that produce metal, some of it exceptional and of course some absolutely diabolical but much of that comes from growing pains of a genre just emerging with influences coming from Europe or America, Australia’s Metal band’s put their own unique spin on it and that’s Australia’s lovely way of saying `We Don’t Give a Fuck’ attitude.

After watching all 3 episodes, the picture of how Metal was formed, developed and became an established musical entity is pretty much a mirror on other rock developments around Europe and America with outside influences creating that spark of interest with the likes of Kiss, Iron Maiden and Metallica, who were among the first to really test the water in Australia.

The idea of DIY attitude, not being spoilt for choice and quite frankly the sheer size of the country are apparent themes that run through the documentary, with bands barely getting the chance to play overseas or for that matter from east Australia to West etc yet an amazing mirror effect has taken place, if you are a fan of rock documentaries or more specifically those detailing the history of our beloved genre you will find that the growth of it seems very similar from country to country.

With current bands like Karnivool, Parkway Drive and Thy Art Is Murder pushing the boundaries and with festivals like Soundwave giving Australian metal fans some much needed and hell a much deserved metal injection boost, Metal and Hard Rock are on the popular rise Down Under, but this DVD gives us its history, its development and quite frankly will point us Brits, Europeans and Americans to some stunning bands that unfortunately never quite hit the radar.

9/10- a fantastic documentary, if you like Headbangers Journey this is for you.

Sony Music / Legacy Recordings Release 40th Anniversary Expanded Deluxe Edition Release of Rory Gallagher's Legendary "Irish Tour '74" Album

Rory Gallagher
Irish Tour ‘74

October 20th 2014 will see the 40th anniversary expanded deluxe edition release of one of Rory Gallagher’s most celebrated recordings.

Sony Music / Legacy Recordings is proud to announce the release of Rory Gallagher’s legendary Irish Tour ‘74. The most expansive edition to date, of this landmark album. Featured for the first time on record, all three shows. Packaged in a special deluxe edition 8 disc 10” boxset and including 43 previously unreleased tracks, remastered audio, photos, extensive liner notes, feature length documentary, memorabilia and more.

By 1974 Rory Gallagher had already established a formidable reputation as one of the finest recording artists and exciting live performers of his generation. He was four years in to a successful solo career following his departure from his critically acclaimed outfit, Taste. 1970 to 1974 had produced five albums and an almost continuous schedule of touring, Rory had gone from strength to strength. He was mid way in to what would be the most prolific decade of his career and was at the absolute top of his game. By sad contrast, Gallagher’s homeland and his beloved adopted city, Belfast in particular had taken a battering. The political climate of Northern Ireland in the late 60s/early 70s saw Belfast ripped apart by some of the most devastating violence in the country’s history. By 1973 and the winter of Gallagher’s landmark tour, Belfast was on its knees. Roy Hollingworth, a journalist for Melody Maker in attendance at the Ulster Hall show would describe the city as a shattered, deserted and frightened place. The live music scene was non-existent with all but Gallagher willing to tour during the height of the Troubles tearing the country apart. While his contemporaries turned their back on the city, it was Rory’s refusal to do so that forever won him the hearts of thousands of fans across the country. “I see no reason for not playing Belfast. Kids still live here,” said Gallagher of his decision to repeatedly play in Belfast. And so, Rory and his band, Gerry McAvoy (bass), Rod De’ath (drums) and Lou Martin (keys) returned again in the winter of 1973 for what would become the celebrated Irish Tour. Acclaimed filmmaker Tony Palmer was drafted in to document the tour. Palmer had first met Gallagher six years before in 1968 when Taste supported Cream at their famous farewell show at the Royal Albert Hall. Palmer has been on hand to record the super groups’ final performance but hadn’t failed to notice the extraordinary standout talents of the young Gallagher. When asked to accompany Rory on the Irish tour in the winter of 1973, Palmer seized the opportunity. More than aware of the socio-political situation in the North of the country at the time and Rory’s refusal to be drawn on either side of the argument, Palmer knew ‘this [was] a very interesting proposition’. ‘Rory was at pains to point out he wasn’t active in any sense politically’ Palmer tells us, but felt very strongly that he should be allowed to play both Northern Ireland and the Republic. ‘I don’t want to make a movie with any political content but it will be self evident’ said Gallagher.
Both the Dublin and Cork shows also feature heavily on the subsequent documentary but it was Rory’s dignified but defiant impartial stance in Belfast that helped make this recording such a watershed moment for Rory’s legions of devoted fans.

Irish Tour ’74 was a world class, matchless, blistering live performance. It is one of the greatest live albums of all time. No studio trickery, no overdubs. A truly live album. The stuff of legend. This new deluxe edition features, for the first time on record, each of these iconic shows. Seven albums worth of fully remastered audio including 43 previously unreleased recordings, plus the Tony Palmer directed feature length documentary and large full colour booklet. All presented in deluxe packaging.

“Only he could play the guitar off the fucking planet.” Tony Palmer

“Rory Gallagher brought hope and musical inspiration to his war-torn spiritual hometown of Belfast.”
“It was within the walls of the venue on ‘bomb alley’ that the tender-hearted, soft-spoken, dogged determination and captivating presence of Ireland’s guitar warrior poet and people’s hero found
its fullest flowering.”

“While Ulster teetered towards the brink, Rory’s rock hit with righteous affirmation”
Gavin Martin for Blues Magazine

“I've never seen anything quite so wonderful, so stirring, so uplifting, so joyous as when Gallagher and the band walked on stage. The whole place erupted, they all stood and they cheered and they yelled, and screamed, and they put their arms up, and they embraced. Then as one unit they put their arms into the air and gave peace signs. Without being silly, or overemotional, it was one of the most memorable moments of my life. It all meant something, it meant more than just rock n' roll, it was something bigger, something more valid than just that.” Roy Hollingworth for Melody Maker

“Rory loved Belfast. Just loved it. Anytime we hit the stage after 1971 you were aware that, apart from the odd cabaret turn at the Abercorn (site of a 1972 bomb blast killing two and injuring 130), none of the bigger bands would come back to play Belfast, it was starved of music. Obviously after The Miami Showband tragedy it just got worse. We’re professionals. We play as well as we could wherever we played but it was a special situation in Belfast, something you could never acquire or attain at any other gig.” Gerry McAvoy

Dictated `The Deceived’ review by Metal Hobbit

Metal in the modern age is a wonderful place to be, any sense of sexism is virtually out the window and a lot of other bad ism’s are not welcome either. Although 30 odd years ago, the Metal scene was dominated purely by men in leather with plenty of studs and denim attached for good measure, so seeing a band like `The Deceived’ with two female guitarists may have been met with a bemused stare and smile.

`The Deceived’ formed in Kampen `Netherlands’ album, being a strictly Death Metal band and this is their debut, do they bring anything more to the table?

Dictated have constructed a well crafted full on Death Metal album, the beautiful thing about simply hearing music and yes that should count for the extreme sub-genres is that if it’s good it doesn’t matter who or what their race, gender or class are, but then the same should be said if the music is bad. But this is straight up good death metal, from the blistering opener `This Is To All’ through to `Rail of Death’, the riffs, the drumming and vocals are all fired out of the cannon with blistering speed and ferocity as you’d expect from a Death Metal band.

Fast, furious, ferocious and frenzied all pretty much sum up `The Deceived, yet this is an album and a band that needs to be seen live, the album itself although good, never really sends that chill down the back of your spine but none the less you can imagine the sheer brutality of this band live, with the mosh pit crawling demonic metal heads all maneuvering for space in a tiny darkened club.

Stand out tracks:
`This Is to All’, `The Basher’ and `Stonebreakers Rising’

SONATA ARCTICA To release re-recorded ‘Ecliptica’ 15th anniversary edition

While currently on yet another successful world tour, this time to support their latest studio-album ‘Pariah’s Child’, Finnish melodic metal heroes SONATA ARCTICA swung by the studio to re-record their debut album ‘Ecliptica’, which was released 15 years ago.

This new version will be released on October 27th under the banner ‘Ecliptica – Revisited; 15th Anniversary Edition’ on Nuclear Blast.

The original ‘Ecliptica’ was recorded at Tico-Tico studios and mixed at Finnvox by Mikko Karmila (NIGHTWISH, CHILDREN OF BODOM and more). The album was promoted live on tour with STRATOVARIUS and RHAPSODY.

Henrik “Henkka” Klingenberg comments: “When it first was suggested to us by our Japanese label that we'd re-record our debut album ‘Ecliptica’, it felt a bit weird, but somehow the idea grew on us. Being that only Tony and Tommy played on the original one, we thought that it would be a fun thing to do, to give these great songs another run. We're definitely not trying to re-write history, the original ‘Ecliptica’ is the starting point of this band and a very special album with a certain feel of innocence and enthusiasm which cannot be recreated as such since we're not teenagers anymore. Having said that, this new version is more of a tribute and an update on how these songs sound when played by our current line-up. We wanted to stay true to the original album as much as possible and not turn this into some weird re-arranged project where you couldn't tell which song was being played. So here it is, the 15th anniversary version of ‘Ecliptica’. Hope you enjoy it, we certainly had a good time digging into these songs and laying down the tracks.”

The tracklisting:

01. Blank File

02. My Land

03. 8th Commandment

04. Replica

05. Kingdom For A Heart

06. Fullmoon

07. Letter To Dana

08. UnOpened

09. Picturing The Past

10. Destruction Preventer

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY RELEASE FIRST TRACK OF UPCOMING ALBUM!

No one can delude Max and Iggor Cavalera anymore. The two SEPULTURA founders show with CAVALERA CONSPIRACY what it means to shoot Thrash and Death Metal straight into the world.

The new studio album Pandemonium will be released on November 3rd in the UK via Napalm Records and show that fatigue is a foreign word for them. Frontman Max Cavalera rushes with bellow of rage into the fray, lets his brother drum coarsest grooves and puts his finger into the open wound.

Presented in usual, sheer boldness the Cavalera brothers have now released the first track from the upcoming album Pandemonium.

Between the Buried and Me to Release DVD / Blu Ray Next Month

Announce Temples Festival 2015 appearance
Progressive powerhouse Between the Buried and Me will be releasing "Future Sequence: Live at the Fidelitorium" next month on Metal Blade Records. The September 30th release will be the band and label's first ever blu ray release. The video will also be available on DVD and via digital retailers. "Future Sequence: Live at Fidelitorium" was recorded at Fidelitorium Recordings outside of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In the video, fans will see Between the Buried and Me performing their more recent album "The Parallax II: Future Sequence" in its entirety. The 2012 album was rated by Guitar World Magazine as #18 on their list of top 50 albums of the year, and earned the band praise from Decibel Magazine, who claimed: "the band's technical ability can now give the likes of Dream Theater and Opeth a run for their prog metal money."

Drummer Blake Richardson comments on the approach to recording this DVD/blu ray: "We've always been fans of dvds where it's just the band, you don't have any other distractions". Vocalist/keyboardist Tommy Rogers explains further: "We wanted to give the fans something that made them feel a little closer to us, and made them almost feel like they're at practice with us". "Future Sequence: Live at the Fidelitorium" will be in stores on September 30th, 2014. A trailer is on-line now, along with pre-order bundles, at metalblade.com/btbam.

"Future Sequence: Live at Fidelitorium" was directed and edited by Justin Reich, with director of photography Ismail Abdelkhalek, and audio engineers Jamie King and Kris Hilbert. Audio mixing and mastering was completed by Jamie King. Guest musicians include: Walter Fancourt (tenor saxophone, flute), Julian Hinshaw (Tuba), Will Goodyear (marimba, glockenspiel), Taya Ricker (violin), David Parks (violin), Leigh Dixon (viola), and Socrates Razo (cello).

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME have announced they will appear at Temples Festival 2015. They will join Neurosis, Electric Wizard, Clutch, Repulsion, Brutal Truth, Converge, Goatwhore and a host of others still to be named. Temples Festival takes place at Motion in Bristol between May 29th – 31st. For more info and tickets: http://www.templesfestival.co.uk

Upon its released in 2012,"The Parallax II: Future Sequence" became the band's highest Billboard Top 200 chart debut of their career at #22. The album was recorded during the Spring of 2012 at The Basement Studios in Winston-Salem, N.C., and was produced by the band and longtime creative partner Jamie King. It was Between The Buried And Me's first full-length release on Metal Blade Records, preceded by "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues," an EP that began the story of the two characters: Prospect I and Prospect II.

"The Parallax II: Future Sequence is a 72-minute, 12-track concept album drawn in widescreen proportions of near-insanely detailed intricacy." DRUM! Magazine

Official SURGE Remix For 'POSSESSED' Full Single Released September 1st 2014

“The Howling are the most real and dangerous rock and roll band we’ve seen for quite a while – this might have been what seeing Guns n’ Roses in 1986 or The Sex Pistols in their heyday was like." – BRING THE NOISE

Following the announcement of The Howling's forthcoming single 'Possessed' (released September 1st through Transcend Music) comes a massive remix from East London production duo Sveini Jónsson and Reg Blagget, who under their Surge moniker, have worked with the likes of The Buzzcocks, New Order, White Lies & The Horrors. In this remix they have produced a genre-splicing sound that infuses The Howling’s signature rock & roll style with heavy dubstep and is big enough to put the likes of Pendulum to shame.

You can listen to the remix here.
You can watch the stunning video for the original version here.

The remix will be available as part of a package that can be purchased online when you download the single from the September 1st. It will be accompanied by the track ‘Dance Of The Skeletons’, which along with ‘Possessed’ gives a mouth watering example of what’s to come from the capital’s blistering new apocalyptic power-punks, and their forthcoming debut album ‘The Big Smoke And Mirrors’, out soon.

The Howling are also hitting the road with JettBlack in October continuing a year of carefully crafted live chaos including performances at Camden Rocks, Download and a UK stint with Feed The Rhino. Bringing rock ‘n’ roll annihilation to every show, The Howling are set to blow away each and every audience this autumn. Full tour details can be found below.

EQUILIBRIUM Announce first ever UK show The German band will play Islington Academy on 6th October.

Get tickets here: http://www.o2academyislington.co.uk/event/69310/equilibrium-tickets
EQUILIBRIUM celebrated the highest chart entry in the band's history in June, with the album 'Erdentempel' reaching #16 in Germany, #40 in Austria and #43 in Switzerland.

Guitarist, composer and lyricist René Berthiaume spent almost four years working on the new creation. The outcome is a very emotional and above all else, a very personal album. It harks back to the roots of the band, without neglecting the bombastic nature of the previous two records. Melodic Metal, powerful yet playful, heavy but emotional, inspired but independent - Erdentempel cleverly crosses genre borders and allowed the band to try out some bold experimentation, which cemented this album as the best in their discography to date.

HAWKWIND feat. Brian Blessed ‘Sonic Attack’

It’s the musical collaboration we never knew we needed, until now! Legendary space rockers HAWKWIND have teamed up with kingly thespian Brian Blessed on the brand new single ‘Sonic Attack!’

When Hawkwind decided to recreate the classic Space Ritual show of 1972 for one night only at the London’s Shepherds Bush Empire (22nd February 2014), the venerable group donated all proceeds to the animal charity Team Badger – of which Brian Blessed is a patron. It was a gig that set the wheels in motion for a storming new partnership.

When Dave Brock recorded ‘Sonic Attack’ he knew he wanted Brian Blessed to record the spoken word parts. Blessed was only too happy to contribute, recording the words as a nightmarish radio announcement. As effective as it was (you can still here a portion of this original recording in the song) it didn’t sound like Blessed! For his part Brock recorded himself emulating Blessed and returned the recording! The resulting vocals laid down by Blessed are not only captivating but triumphantly emblematic of the man himself.

The accompanying video was created by long time Hawkwind artist Martin McGuiness.

This powerful addition to the Hawkwind canon is available from 1st September 2014.

Trioscapes release new album, debut video via PROG Magazine

Progressive/fusion trio, Trioscapes, have released their sophomore album worldwide on Metal Blade Records! To celebrate the release, the band has partnered with PROG Magazine in the UK to premiere their video for the title track from "Digital Dream Sequence." The Chuck Johnson-directed performance video is streaming now at http://prog.teamrock.com/news/2014-08-19/trioscapes-play-out-dream-sequence

Dan Briggs comments on the video: "We shot this video on the last day of our two week recording session at Legitimate Business in Greensboro, NC and I feel like it perfectly captures the raw intensity we were trying to capture. No bullshit, live in the studio."

To capture the raw and dynamic mood the band has become accustomed to at their live shows, Trioscapes enlisted the expertise of Kris Hilbert at Legitimate Business in Greensboro, NC to record "Digital Dream Sequence." Those studio facilities offered the band the flexibility to track individually, or as an entire band, which was done for certain parts on the album. In a brand new studio video, Dan Briggs (bass, Between the Buried and Me), Walter Fancourt (tenor saxophone/flute), and Matt Lynch (drums/percussion) take us behind the scenes and show us a glimpse of what the writing and recording process was like - watch the video now at metalblade.com/trioscapes.

"prog-jazz mania with relentless, wailing saxophones and off-kilter drum fills that would make most fans of Between The Buried And Me wonder what the fuck was put into their orange juice this morning." Alternative Press Magazine

"Dynamically charged and musically gifted, these three plow through a colorful array of punchy grooves and extravagant jamming." ThePRP.com

"Prog dorks like us are in for a real treat. It's jazzy, it's fusiony, it's technical, it's catchy…It's barely metal at all, but boy is it awesome."MetalSucks.net

A few more songs were written near the end of the summer and a full length album was recorded the first week of October with Jamie King in Winston-Salem, NC. Trioscapes combines elements of 70s fusion with progressive rock, dark syncopated grooves, a flare for the psychedelic, and an unabashed love for both quirky Zappa-ish melodies and thunderous abrasive trade-off lines.
